Seriously Fun Film & TV Cocktails
Maybe you’re throwing a theme party or snuggling up on the couch and having a binge viewing session with your friends. Either way, you’re going to want the perfect drink for the occasion. Here’s a list of cocktails inspired by popular film franchises and TV shows:
“Mulder’s Bee Sting”
“If there’s an iced tea in that bag, it could be love.”
Makes 1 drink
- 2 oz. gin
- 1 oz. black tea, unsweetened
- 1/2 oz. orange juice
- 1 oz. lemon juice
- 1 tbsp. honey
Combine honey with 1 tablespoon water to make honey syrup. Mix well.
Add honey syrup, gin, tea, orange juice and lemon juice to a shaker filled with ice. Shake well.
Serve on the rocks, like Mulder’s relationship with Scully when Diana Fowley came to town.
Mulder drinks vodka/gin and orange juice in Syzygy, so I thought it was fitting to make Mulder’s drink a gin and juice with a splash of iced tea. I also wanted to riff on a bee theme – for obvious reasons. The Bee’s Knees is a cocktail from the Prohibition era that combines gin, lemon and honey. This cocktail is a combination of the two concepts. Sweet and tart, it just works – like Mulder and Scully’s relationship.
“Scully’s Hot Scotch”
Makes 1 drink
- 2 oz. scotch
- 1 oz. Fireball Whisky
- 1 oz. vanilla-infused vodka
- Simple syrup
Make a simple syrup by heating 2 tablespoons water and 2 tablespoons sugar in a small pan just until the sugar dissolves. Stir and set aside.
Add scotch, Fireball and vanilla vodka to a shaker filled with ice. Add simple syrup to taste. Shake well.
Serve straight up.
I know that Scully’s drink of choice in Small Potatoes is red wine, but c’mon, I’m sure she needs something a little bit stronger once in a while to deal with Mulder’s shenanigans. Plus, like Scully, this drink is strong, hot and a little bit sweet.”
