iPhone 6 #BendGate: It’s A Thing
With the release of the new iPhone 6 last week, of course the critics were going to be out in force. But no one expected this… The new model – bends?
Owners of the new iPhone 6 Plus have reported that their new gadgets are being bent out of shape while being carried around in their pockets. Although Apple has not yet responded to the issue, it is thought that because the new model is so much larger and thinner than previous phones, the aluminium case just does not have enough strength for its length.
Naturally, the users of Twitter have had something to say about it.

Thank you iPhone for giving us the #bendgate issue, it provides the ultimate dilemma for hipsters; latest iPhone or skinny jeans.

If you want something indestructible, get a Nokia. #bendgate

The problem was first noticed by MacRumours, when one reader said his iPhone 6 Plus bent after putting it in his front pocket at a wedding: “The 6 Plus was about 18 hours in my pocket while sitting mostly. As I lay it on the coffee table and sat down on the couch to relax from the drive (yes, sitting again), I saw the reflection of the window in the iPhone slightly distorted.”
One brave man even sacrificed his phone to try the iPhone 6 bend test:
‘Bend gate’ was also an issue back in 2010, when the iPhone 4 antenna had problems where owners held the device at a certain angle and calls would disconnect. To solve the problem, Apple issued free cases to the people who complained.
It will be interesting to see if Apple does the same for those affected by the 2014 #BendGate. Watch this space!
