I did the 27 Day Squat Challenge
It’s all about the bass.
Oh the irony that I’m writing this after my Protein World ranticle (ranty article, that’s right, I used it) but I decided to give the Buzzfeed 27 day squat challenge a go and see if I couldn’t tone up my thunder thighs (no seriously, I have a severe jeans ripping problem with these things; they’re lethal).
I am a sucker for challenges like this, I really am, and I bet I’m not the only one. There’s a competitive side of me that really gets off on it. It’s like there’s an unwritten assumption that I won’t get to day 27 and I have to prove the world wrong. But I have to admit, I’m always sceptical on how effective they are when it comes to exercise challenges.
So I got to day 27. I was up. It was 6.40am. Right before a full day of work. And I’m doing 100 motherfuckin squats. 100. But it’s going to be totally worth it right? My legs are going to be super toned and my ass will look amazing. Right?*
There is no difference
I literally cannot tell the difference other than the lighting. And I’m wearing a different top.
Now, some of my friends have suggested that it may be because I already have pretty muscular thighs (read THIGHS OF THUNDER, Goddamnit Thor come take your legs back. They’re seriously hampering my wardrobe choice). Which could be completely valid, and I was doing this on body weight only. I do a decent level of squatting in my pilates classes so I possibly needed to be doing this with weights, but REALLY I wish I’d seen more after 27 days of getting up to do squats.
So I’m now doing the abs challenge. With some friends I’ve roped in. We’ll see you in 30 days 😉
Any future challenge suggestions are welcome! I am Erin “Challenge Me” Davies right now
*my ass already looks amazing. Just sayin’
